1 Dirham are 100 Centimes. Coins are available of  5, 10, 20, 50 Centimes, and also of  1, 2, 5, 10 Dirham. Notes are available of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 Dirham. The biggest note is just 20 Eurom and  that's why  the wallets is already filled with less moeny.

Traveller checks can changed at banks and bigger hotels of a highest worth of 2000 Dirham. You also can receive money only with your EC-Card (Pin is necessary) at the banks in the bigger towns and also in Essaouira. It 's the same for credit cars like Euro/Master, Visa and American Express (not in every banks). You also can pay by credit card in international hotels, some restaurants and some touristic shops.

It is useful to have a lot of small change to pay easily at the souks, at the shops because small change is always missed. The easiest way is to ask at the bank to get a lot of small change when you receive money.

Worth of Money:

While buying the food the Dirham is equivalent  ½ € for the european people. So you can buy the food very favourable. But if you like to buy imported products you will find very high prices for them. Also when they are produced in Morocco. At the new big super-markets like Macro and Marjane (in Casablanca, Agadir, Rabat and Marrakech) you can find a great and various choice of a lot of eurpean products.
You should't forget that a normal moroccan worker only earn 60Dh -100/ day. Pay attention to it if you want to get the service of someone.
