Formalities (Entry)

Visa requirements can be changed. So inform at the Moroccan Embassy in your country for the actual requirements. You can also get information at the Tourist Offices abroad or at your travel agency.

Travellers of West-Europe only need a identical card. we recommend nevertheless to take your passport with you. It should be carried with you always, because you will need it every time you check in a new hotel. To enter Morocco your passport or your identical card must be valid for six months from the date of entry. The British visitors passport is not accepted in Morocco.

If you are older than 16 years you have to travel with your own passport. Children under 15 years must have their photos attached to their parents' passport, if they haven't their own. We recommend nevertheless that they are mentioned in the passport of their parents to avoid problems.

Travellers of the European states do not need a visa. If they enter Morocco (at the airport or after arriving with the ferry) they have to fill  a entrance card, and they obtain automatically a tourist visa. With this tourist visa they are allowed to stay 90days in Morocco. After this period you have to leave Morocco. 

For Ceuta and Melilla: these are two enclaves of the Spanish Territory. if you have to require a visa to enter Spain, you also have to require a visa to enter these enclaves. Please inform you at the Moroccan Embassy.

If you want to stay more than 3 month in Morocco, it is possible to apply for an extension or to demand "la carte de resident (green card). It is difficult to get this card. The recommendation to re-enter (leave Morocco for a few-days and to re-enter) is often not practicable and sometimes you do not get the permission to re-enter. To get the extension for some month is easier, but think at it at time.

Travelling with the car

You need the green Assurance card with the notice : valuables for Morocco. You obtain when your enter with your car the first time of this year, the permission for six month. Your own permission is just available for three month. If  you want to stay  longer,  take care for the extension at time.

By car

If you want to travel by car you need a lot of time. You pass by France to the South of Spain, where you take at Algeciras the ferry to Tanger or Ceuta. The ferries turn several times a day.

The European driving licence is accepted. It is strictly forbidden to drive after drinking alcohol.

Travelling with the car

Timetable of the ferries to Europe

Tanger - Algeciras  8.30 h; 13.30 h; 22.30 h
Algeciras - Tanger  6.00 h; 15.30 h; 20.00 h

In the high seasons there are more transfers to between Algeciras and Ceuta or Tanger (one by hour between 6h and 21h)

Arrival at Morocco: By Europe-Bus
Eurolines go from Europe to Morocco in conjunction with the National bus line CTM. Eurolines drives via Paris to Spain and after to Morocco. One-way tickets cost about  150€. The Eurolines has an  office in London and in Paris. From Germany you can reserve tickets and get information from  Deutschen Touring-Gesellschaft, Am Römerhof 17, 60486 Frankfurt, Tel. 069/790 30.
By plane: The airport Marrakech-Menara

The airport "Marrakech-Menara is situated 6 km at the South of the city.
Unfortunately there are no transfer-busses to the city. The transfer by taxi costs about 150Dh..

By plane: The airport Agadir-Al Massira
The airport Al Massira is located 28km at the South of Agadir . Here you can also get Inner flights to Casablanca, Rabat, -Marrakech, Tanger etc.

The Transport to the Airport is easy with the Grand Taxi.  Up to 4 persons can take a Grand taxi, they should not cost more than 200Dh (normal price at day 150DH)

There are only one bus-line to the Airport from Inezgane (for 3,50DH). Bus-line No 22. The bus odes not stop directly in front of the airport. You have to go 8min to the Airport.

Arrival at Morocco: By train

There are daily trains from a lot of European towns to Morocco. The fastest journey is to take the train from Köln or Frankfurt via Paris or Madrid in direction Algecircas. The price for an one-way-ticket Frankfurt-Casablanca is about 230,00 Euro. The journey takes 60 hours. In Morocco there are only railways just to Marrakech. To arrive at the South o Morocco you have to take the bus or the grand taxis.
